Did You Know? — Ghorepani & Poon Hill

is considered one of the best short-distance sunrise viewpoints in the Himalayas, offering views of two 8,000-meter peaks — Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri I — without the need for extreme altitude trekking. This makes it a favorite for travelers seeking beauty with comfort.

The forests surrounding Ghorepani are part of a protected rhododendron zone. In spring, the hills burst into vibrant red, pink, and white blooms, transforming the trail into a natural garden of color and fragrance.

The name Ghorepani comes from the Nepali words “Ghore” (horse) and “Pani” (water). Historically, this village was a resting point for traders traveling with horses between India and Tibet, making it an important cultural crossroads long before it became a trekking destination.
