Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, you will have the opportunity to meet with your tour operator. During this meeting, you will receive a comprehensive briefing about the trekking itinerary and the cultural festival you’ll be experiencing. This session will cover essential details, ensuring you are well-prepared for the adventure that lies ahead.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara

After breakfast, you’ll take a scenic flight or a comfortable drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, which offers stunning views of the Himalayan range and beautiful landscapes. Arrive in Pokhara and check into your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the lakeside city, enjoying the serene atmosphere, and preparing for the trek ahead.

Day 03: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga

After an early breakfast, you’ll drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, which takes approximately 1.5 hours. From Nayapul, the trek begins, and you’ll hike towards Tikhedhunga. The trail passes through terraced fields, lush forests, and charming villages. Enjoy beautiful views of the countryside and the sound of rivers along the way. You’ll spend the night in Tikhedhunga, where local guesthouses offer delicious meals.

Day 04: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

Start your day with a hearty breakfast and commence your trek towards Ghorepani. The trail includes a steep uphill climb, providing a good workout. As you ascend, you’ll witness stunning panoramas of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Traverse through rhododendron forests and cross suspension bridges over rivers. Ghorepani, your destination for the day, is a charming village with teahouses offering comfortable accommodation and local cuisine.

Day 05: Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tadapani

An early morning wake-up call prepares you for a rewarding hike to Poon Hill before sunrise. The trail takes you uphill, and after about an hour, you’ll reach the summit of Poon Hill, where breathtaking views of the sunrise over the Himalayas await. Capture the golden hues reflecting off the snow-capped peaks. After descending, enjoy breakfast in Ghorepani before continuing your trek to Tadapani. The trail winds through dense forests, occasional villages, and picturesque landscapes. Tadapani offers cozy lodges and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 06: Tadapani to Ghandruk

Today’s trek takes you to the traditional Gurung village of Ghandruk. The trail descends through lush forests, passing by terraced fields and charming settlements. You’ll cross several rivers over suspension bridges, adding an adventurous touch to your journey. Ghandruk welcomes you with its traditional stone houses and warm hospitality. Explore the village, interact with locals, and savor authentic Gurung cuisine.

Day 07: Ghandruk to Pokhara Pokhara 

After breakfast, trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul. From Nayapul, a private vehicle will transfer you back to Pokhara. After reaching Pokhara, take a short break to freshen up and have lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a picturesque drive from Pokhara to Damauli, which takes approximately 1 hour. Damauli is the village where you will spend the next four hours celebrating the vibrant Dasain Festival.

Day 08-11: Dashain Festival in Damauli & Pokhara

Spend these days participating in the lively celebrations of the Dasain Festival. Experience cultural activities, traditional music, and dance performances, and indulge in delicious festive meals prepared with local flavors. Immerse yourself in the local traditions and enjoy the warmth of the community.

Day 12: Pokhara to Kathmandu

After breakfast, bid farewell to the village of Bandipur. You’ll embark on a scenic drive back to Kathmandu, which takes approximately 5 hours. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes, rivers, and occasional glimpses of traditional Nepalese villages. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Take some time to relax and freshen up before exploring the vibrant streets of Kathmandu, where you can shop for souvenirs and immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the city.

Day 13: Departure from Kathmandu

On the final day of the trip, you’ll have breakfast at the hotel and have some free time to explore the city further or do some last-minute shopping. Depending on your flight departure time, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your onward journey. As you bid farewell to Nepal, take with you the memories of the enchanting Poon Hill Trek and the vibrant celebrations of the Dashain Festival.

Seasons for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is possible throughout the year. The Autumn from September to December and Spring from March to June are best time trekking poon hill.

Poon Hill Trek-Difficulty

This is a family trip routes in Nepal. However, be careful while trekking on Poon Hill as there are many uphill and downhill.

The trip routes are as Kathmandu, Pokhara and Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, then to Chitwan National Park. The Poon Hill trek is a perfect journey that offers captivating beauty of sparkling peaks, spectacular scenarios, and diverse culture.

Insurance for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

The Poon Hill trek is a moderate altitude hike. It involves exhausting long ascents and dangerous steep descents, most of the time the route goes through remote areas. Getting injured and evacuated from remote areas is very costly. Hence, travel insurance is necessary. The insurance policy covers the emergency medical, lost luggage, trip cancellation and emergency rescue and evacuations.

Accommodation on Poon Hill Trek

We provide tourist standard accommodation-twin sharing room with breakfast in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan. Also, happy to upgrade luxury accommodations on 4/5 star hotel as per your request.  Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a luxury trek route. You will get a comfortable neat and clean teahouse accommodation on the trail. Every guesthouse on the route has Wi-Fi, a hot water shower, and electricity.

Food on Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

The breakfast are included with hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara. In poon hill trek and Chitwan National Park Tour, the three times meals-breakfast, lunch and dinner are all inclusive in the price. The restaurant, offering local Nepali dal bhat, spaghetti, bread, omelet, Tibetan bread, porridge, fried noodles, and fried rice. Tea and coffee are available in the menus.

Water on the tour

It is nice to use Life Straw bottles and used tap water for drinking. You can find water taps along the route. The sort of water purification system will save you a lot of money on the Poon Hill trek. Plus, it’s good for the environment. One liter of drinking water costs around NPR 150 to 300 depending on the place. You’ll need at least two liter of water per person a day.

Transport

It is also possible both tourist and local bus transfer from Kathmandu to Pokhara to Chitwan to Kathmandu. Private transfer like jeep, car and bus also possible but it is more expensive than the tourist bus.  It is also possible to take flight between Kathmandu and Pokhara if you are bored with the long bus journey.

Permits for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Like other treks in Annapurna region, you need to get a permit and a TIMS card to do Poon Hill Trek. Both we will make it in Kathmandu. The cost is USD 50. To get the TIMS card and the Annapurna-ACAP permit, we need your passport, insurance and 4 photos.
